Campus & Student Life at UM with a BCN Student

Hi! I'm Shreya, a Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience (BCN) student at the University of Michigan with a passion for psychology and neuroscience. I'm involved in undergraduate research and campus organizations, which has allowed me to experience many different aspects of student life at UM. I love meeting new people and helping prospective students and their families get an authentic feel for what campus life may look like. Whether you're curious about academics, research opportunities, student organizations, campus traditions, or what everyday life is like as a Wolverine, I'd be happy to answer your questions and tailor the tour to your interests. My goal is to make your visit both informative and enjoyable, so you leave feeling excited and confident about your college journey.

Describe your college experience

Transitioning to UM was both exciting and rewarding. As a BCN major, I've found a community through research, student organizations, and campus involvement. My experience has helped me grow academically and personally, and I enjoy sharing what I've learned to help prospective students feel confident and excited about their own college journey.

Tip for future students

Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Get involved early, ask questions, and take advantage of the many resources and opportunities on campus. You never know what experience or connection could shape your college journey!

Favorite class

My favorite class has been Anthropology 101 because it challenged me to think about cultures, societies, and human behavior from new perspectives. I enjoyed the engaging discussions and learning how anthropology helps us better understand the diverse world around us.

Career goals

After college, I hope to pursue a career in clinical psychology with a focus on sports or forensic psychology. I'm excited to work with individuals in these fields while continuing to learn about the connection between behavior, mental health, and performance.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal free night is grabbing pizza from NYPD with my roommate, walking back to my apartment and passing the Union, and having a cozy movie night. I also love trying new coffee shops, reading, and just relaxing after a busy week.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus is the Law Quad. It's a beautiful place to study, relax, chat with friends, or take a walk between classes. I love taking pictures there!
