Jason Gudetti: 4th year in EcoEvo Biology w/ a minor in Bioinformatics
I enjoy playing sports (volleyball mostly), I love to hang out with the friends I have made in college, and I want to continue making connections like that in my last year here. I have research interests in Biotechnology. I am also heavily involved as a student leader in the on-campus Christian ministry UCSC Challenge.

Describe your college experience
The transition to college was a great experience because I made the decision to put myself out there and be friendly to everyone, and early on I was able to find a group of people I resonated with and enjoyed spending time with both in and out of classes.
Tip for future students
Some things I wish I knew before college: - How fast paced 10 week classes would be compared to the semester system. In 10 weeks you are expected to finish a whole curriculum, so be sure to plan far in advance for your classes. - People are more willing to engage in conversation than you think, so put yourself out there, and don't be discouraged if interactions don't always go as planned
Favorite class
My favorite class has been an intro Biology class covering Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. I really enjoyed this class because the professor was super fun to listen to, and I enjoyed the material because of it. I also took this class with someone I wasn't super familiar with, and we came out of the class super good friends!
Career goals
I switched from a Computer Science major to Biology, so plans have been shifting for me for a bit. With this switch to Biology and bioinformatics (minor), I hope to make use of my passion for biology along with my skillset of computer science and programming to enter into a career making use of biotechnology. I am still navigating what field I would like to enter into specifically, but I am confident the skills I will continue to build will serve me in whatever career I go into
Ideal way to spend a free night
I host a game night every Friday for my friends (primarily from my on-campus Christian ministry) to come over to my house and play some board/card/fun games in general for a night. This would be the right scenario for me to enjoy a free night, but really any time I am able to spend time with my friends is a time I enjoy thoroughly, whether it be bowling, ice cream, or just hanging out at a house.

Favorite spot on campus
My favorite location on campus is the East Field. I personally like it because we frequently get a group together to play grass volleyball, and it's always a really fun time. It's also a wonderful place to play any other sport (close proximity to courts & gym).
