Describe your college experience
I had a difficult time leaving home and adjusting to a new environment. Starting over and creating a new life for myself was intimidating. Once I got over that fear, my college town felt like a new place. I’ve been having a fun experience in Santa Cruz. There’s a lot more to do here and explore…coming from someone who grew up in a small town.
Tip for future students
This campus is no joke, bring your hiking shoes and be prepared to walk to class when the busses get full and busy. Besides that, joining a club on campus is an amazing option to put yourself out there. It’s an opportunity to also find a community and surround yourself with other people who you can be comfortable around!
Favorite class
My favorite class I took was a feminist studies class that focused on indigenous tribes in California that are overlooked by politics and society. Their struggles then and now are something that everyone should be aware of. Knowledge about these tribes is so impactful and valuable.
Career goals
I want to become a history teacher for highschool students. I’ve been moved in my classes to teach students about history that has been kept from the public. I wish I knew more about what I’ve learned in my college courses before I started college.
Ideal way to spend a free night
I love watching movies during my free time. My favorite movies are psychological thrillers, like “Us” or “the sixth sense”. If I’m surrounded with my friends and some popcorn, I would consider it the perfect night.

Favorite spot on campus
The east field is one of the more popular spots on campus but it’s my favorite. The few is always something beautiful. During the day we can see the ocean and all of downtown and once the sun goes down, the stars begin to shine. It’s the perfect place to lay a blanket down and relax.
