Emelia Crown- Alpha Delta Pi, Policy Student, outdoors lover!
I am a rising junior who is deeply involved in a variety of campus clubs and organizations. Outside of my studies, I work as a nanny for a local family, who have truly become a second family to me during my time here. I am currently majoring in Policy and minoring in Peace and Justice Studies, with career interests ranging from advocacy work to the music and entertainment industry. As a Baltimore City native, I have a deep appreciation for the Maryland area and how accessible it is to Delaware. I am incredibly excited to introduce you to the place I am proud to call my second home—I truly couldn't imagine myself anywhere else.

Describe your college experience
My experience so far in college has been truly amazing, and also taught me a lot so far. There has of course been some harder moments, especially as someone who is very close with her family, and did experience some homesickness in my freshman year. However after joining a sorority, I really did find my people and met so many friends that have become like family. I miss school so dearly and I cannot wait to return after summer!
Tip for future students
Two of my biggest pieces of advice for students starting college are find a way to stay organized and on top of your work within the first few days of moving in, and also learn to be okay with not being best friends with your freshman year roommate.
Favorite class
My favorite class so far has been my landscaping class. While this might sound random, it was a truly fun class. I learned a lot about the history of architecture in America and around the world, as well as going on many field trips throughout Delaware and Pennsylvania. It was also a very small class which I enjoy a lot, especially coming from a very small private high school.
Career goals
After college I hope to work for a think tank or financial foundation, while also getting my masters degree either before or during moving onto a career. I am very passionate about wanting to help others, and working in policy in a career that does this is what I am determined to do. I also am very interested in working in a policy role in the music industry, or going into communications within the entertainment industry,
Ideal way to spend a free night
An ideal way that I like to spend a free night is taking a late night walk around campus or getting a group of friends together to try a new restaurant or go to one we already love on main street. One thing I love about UDel is that is is a very safe campus, so no matter what time it is I feel safe to walk around alone and just enjoy the peacefulness and see the stars, especially taking a blanket on the massive green and going stargazing. Plus, main street has every food choice you could possibly think of, so there are infinite things to do!

Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus is the dairy farm! I am proud to say I used to work there for the first year and a half of college. Now it is one of my favorite spots to take runs around and see the sunset. It is a great way to see the beauty of the campus, and a great reminder of all that UDel has to offer.
