My name is Shak, and I'm a rising senior at UofM! I'm pursuing a dual degree in Information Analysis and Political Science, and I'm on the pre-law track. I'm involved with pre-law and consulting clubs on campus, and I am happy to answer any questions you may have about the school! I grew up in Michigan and spent a summer in Ann Arbor which has really allowed me to get to know the city and surrounding areas, so I'm happy to provide any recommendations! I also work as a Campus Information Assistant, so I have gained a lot of insight into on-campus and off-campus activities through that role as well.

Describe your college experience

I've absolutely loved my time at UofM! I was definitely hesitant going into my freshman year, but I very quickly found a wonderful community on-campus. I love everything about Michigan from the campus to the football games, and I feel like I have received a very well-rounded college experience. I've also tried a lot of different classes​/​clubs and have friends pursuing a variety of degrees and career paths, so I have a solid grasp of the different curriculumσ and academic experienceσ.

Tip for future students

I think you should try as many things as you can - you never know what's going to stick! It can be really easy to stay in your shell and bubble, but college is the perfect time to try things that might make you uncomfortable. I was definitely a lot more shy as a freshman, and I couldn't be more grateful that I stepped outside of my comfort zone to meet new people and try new things.

Favorite class

I have loved both of the information ethics classes that I have taken! I think that they were really well taught and really helped me explore my interest in the intersection of technology, law, and ethics.

Career goals

I'm hoping to work in the legal field or at a tech company for a few years before applying to law school! Ultimately, I would like to work in tech law or IP law (especially on AI regulations) and eventually move into the public sector.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night on-campus is to grab dinner with my friends (whether it's takeout or in-person), and see where the night takes us! We love to go out, but we also love a chill movie night in. Especially in the fall and spring, we'll spend a lot of time on our porch and have bonfires with our friends and neighbors!

Favorite spot on campus

I love the law quad and law library! The law quad is a great place to have picnics and hang out with friends when the weather is nice out, and the law library is the perfect place to have a quiet study session (it looks like Hogwarts).
