Describe your college experience

Coming in as a first-gen student, I originally struggled to navigate the college experience, but as time went on, I slowly learned the ropes of what it means to have a productive college experience. I found what I was passionate about, and surrounded myself with people who loved all the same things I did. I have found communities and myself since starting college.

1. It's okay to ask for help 2. Find at least one community or person you can confide in 3. Build connections with your professors

Favorite class

My favorite classes so far have been my History through Writing class, as I got to build my academic research and writing skills while learning about how political trials have shaped the current America. Also, my Introduction to Chemistry class, because chemistry used to be one of my most hated subjects, but after taking this class, I was able to discover a newfound love and appreciation for chemistry, which helped me choose what path I wanted to take with my major.

Career goals

After graduation, I want to work in a laboratory studying how altering genetics can help stop or better understand how diseases transfer between animals and humans. For example, I want to research how genetically altering mosquitoes can help stop or slow the spread of malaria. Additionally, I also want to be a part of genetic testing for humans, particularly prospective mothers, so they can best determine the route they want to take with their pregnancy if their child is predisposed to terminal genetic defects.

Ideal way to spend a free night

In my free time, I love reading and watching TV. I particularly am a fan of romcoms, anime, and reality time (#LoveIsland). As for books, I am open to all genres, but classics and murder mysteries hold a special place in my heart.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on my campus is the Big House because I love the energy it radiates. Some of my best memories since starting college occurred at the Big House, both with my friends, roommate, and family. I have attended football games, events, and even concerts here!
