I am a very outgoing and extroverted person that not only loves to talk, but loves to talk about things that I love. I am from Westchester, New York and I am a sophomore pre-nursing student at the University of Tampa. Ever since coming to UT, I have loved every second of it! I have a big group of friends at home that I love to hang out with and an amazing group of friends and sorority sisters at UT. I am in Sigma Kappa and I am the Director of Community Engagement. In high school, I was a major part of our student government, student athletic council, and captain of all of my sports teams, so I love being involved in my school!

Describe your college experience

Although coming so far from home was really hard to adjust at first, after a couple of weeks I loved it here! I made such amazing friends through my dorm floor, sorority, pre-nursing program, and just walking around campus. The workload, although difficult, is easy to manage due to my skills in organization and dedication. The community at UT has made the transition to my new temporary home much easier.

Tip for future students

Main tips I would have for newer students is to not be scared to step out of your comfort zone. This is a new atmosphere for everyone, and most people are all in the same boat. No one knows their way around campus, no one knows each other, no one knows the city very well. Being confident enough to talk to that new face you met in your AWR class or asking an upperclassmen around campus where your next class is can make the transition period a lot easier. Another tip I have for new students is to just be flexible with the change. College is a lot different than high school and everyone adjusts to it differently. It all works out in the end!

Favorite class

My favorite class was Anatomy and Physiology II. Although it is commonly known as one of the hardest pre-reqs for nursing nationwide, it was so much fun! In order to succeed in the class, I spent hours and hours studying everyday and it was truly really hard. But for once, what I was learning was really interesting for me. I found it so exciting that I was finally learning about something that would be meaningful for my interests and my future career. It was refreshing, especially after being in high school and being forced to take classes that didn't interest me. I also loved how much it made me push myself. Going into college, I never thought I would be able to sit still and study as much as I did for that class.

Career goals

After college, I hope to graduate with my Bachelors in Science and become a registered nurse. After working for a couple of years, I am hopeful to go back to school to receive my masters and become a nurse practitioner. I love working with children, so I am hoping to stay in the Pediatric Oncology field.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is just catching up with my friends. Sometimes it is easy to find yourself so caught up in homework and other important stuff that you forget to just take a step back and talk to people. One of the greatest parts about being in college is having a roommate, or just having your friends so close to you. One thing I am really looking forward to this year is being able to sit in the living room and catch up with my roommates in our new Jenkins apartment on campus!
