I'm a third year undergraduate student at Drexel University studying environmental science. I am on the 5 year 3 co-op plan of study and I'm doing a philosophy minor. My career goal is to research birds (ornithology) full time. I love anything outdoors, fishing, reading, and comic books.

Describe your college experience

My experience at Drexel has definitely been filled with ups and downs. I have had some incredible experiences, but I have also struggled. I think Drexel has some obvious issues but isn't a bad school. Every school is going to have some things you like and some things you don't. I had a hard time transitioning to college because of my learning disabilities, but I was able to find a lot of in-school resources and support and I'm doing much better. My favorite things about Drexel have been starting on real research as early as freshman year and getting to study abroad in Guyana. My least favorite part has been chemistry.

Tip for future students

I would say no matter what you school you go to, it really comes down to money. Unless there's something that really makes you attached to a certain school, you're getting the same degree no matter where you go. If you are pursuing a career field that is not high paying, as I am, I would definitely consider what potentially paying off debt would look like for you with the jobs you could get in your field after graduation. It's also important to know what your non-negotiables are for a school. Do you need a strong academic accommodations program? Identity-based organizations like a GSA or culture group? To be close to home? Familiarize yourself with what programs and resources your prospective schools have (or don't have!)

Favorite class

My favorite class was the study abroad course I did in Guyana, tropical field studies. I learned so much and had a blast. It also was what finally got me to change my major from biology to environmental science. If you are on the fence about which of these majors is right for you, let's talk! I had been going back and forth since applying for colleges senior year of highschool so I think I can offer some insight.

Career goals

I want to be an ornithologist (study of birds) and do research. I hope to be able to spend some time outside for my job as well.

Ideal way to spend a free night

The great thing about being in Philadelphia is that theres so much to do and places are typically open late. I love to go see a movie and get hot chicken afterwards.
