Hi! I’m Awa, a Health Sciences student at the University of Central Florida on the pre-med track. I transferred to UCF after earning my AA and have loved getting involved on campus while exploring everything Orlando has to offer. Describe your college experience

My transition to college has been very rewarding. I earned my AA before transferring to UCF, so adjusting to a larger campus was a big change, but I quickly found my place. As a Health Sciences major on the pre-med track, I’ve enjoyed challenging myself academically while balancing work and gaining healthcare experience. UCF has given me opportunities to grow, meet new people, and prepare for my future career.

Tip for future students

Don’t be afraid to ask questions and get involved early. Attend campus events, visit your professors during office hours, and make use of resources like tutoring and advising. Also, don’t wait until the last minute to register for classes—they fill up quickly! Finding a good study routine and staying organized makes a huge difference.

Favorite class

One of my favorite classes has been Biology because it helped me better understand how the human body works and reinforced my interest in medicine. I enjoyed learning concepts that connect directly to real-life healthcare and my future career goals.

Career goals

After graduating from UCF, I plan to attend medical school and become a physician. I’m passionate about helping others and hope to build a career where I can make a positive impact on patients’ lives while continuing to learn and grow in the medical field.

Ideal way to spend a free night

On a free night, I like trying new restaurants with friends, exploring Orlando, or having a relaxing evening watching a movie or TV show. Sometimes it’s nice to grab coffee, catch up with family, or simply unwind after a busy week of classes and work.

Previous college

I transferred to UCF after earning my Associate of Arts degree at Daytona State College. The transition to a larger university was exciting, and I quickly adapted by getting involved, building relationships with classmates and professors, and taking advantage of the many resources UCF offers. My time at Daytona State gave me a strong academic foundation that prepared me well for UCF.
