Describe your college experience
Transitioning from India to the U.S. was not easy at the beginning. Being far from home and adapting to a completely different place took time and patience. Eventually, I made great friends, got involved in research and student organizations, and discovered opportunities I never imagined I'd have. Looking back, coming to UW has been one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I've truly loved my college experience here.
Tip for future students
Don't be afraid to take risks and put yourself out there. College is one of the few times in life where you're encouraged to explore, make mistakes, and figure out what you're passionate about. Join clubs, talk to new people, try classes outside your comfort zone, and don't worry if your plans change along the way. Nothing is ever "too late" in college, and some of the best opportunities come from simply saying yes.
Favorite class
ENG 201 was my favorite class at UW. I was introduced to many fascinating works of Victorian literature that I otherwise never would have read, and it completely changed the way I think about literature and writing. The class pushed me to analyze ideas from different perspectives, think more critically, and challenge my own assumptions. Those analytical and problem-solving skills have been valuable not only in my other classes but also in my research.
Career goals
I hope to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience and become a research scientist.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night is getting dinner with my friends, talking for hours about anything and everything, and maybe baking something together.
