Hi! I'm Amelia, a sophomore Biology major at Northeastern University with minors in Criminology and History. I'm originally from New York City and began my Northeastern experience at the Oakland campus before transitioning to the Boston campus. I also took summer classes in Boston, so I've experienced both campuses and can answer questions about academics, housing, student life, and what the transition is like. I'm involved in Women in STEM, enjoy meeting new people, and love helping prospective students figure out if Northeastern is the right fit for them.

Describe your college experience

One of the most unique parts of my college experience has been attending both Northeastern's Oakland and Boston campuses. I started as a first-year student in Oakland, spent the summer taking classes in Boston, and am now continuing my studies there full-time. Experiencing both campuses has given me a unique perspective on Northeastern. Oakland offered a smaller, close-knit community that made it easy to get to know professors and classmates, while Boston provides the excitement of a larger campus with endless opportunities for research, clubs, co-ops, and exploring the city. The transition between campuses was smooth, and it allowed me to experience two very different sides of Northeastern.

Tip for future students

Take advantage of every opportunity, especially during your first year. Join clubs, introduce yourself to professors, and don't be afraid to ask questions. If you're starting in Oakland and transitioning to Boston, embrace both experiences, they each have something different to offer, and the transition is much easier than many students expect.

Favorite class

My favorite class so far has been Genetics because it helped me understand how genetics influences health and disease while giving me hands-on lab experience. It confirmed my passion for biology and medicine, and I really enjoyed the balance between lectures and practical learning.

Career goals

After graduating, I hope to attend medical school and become a physician. I'm also interested in research and hope to combine clinical medicine with scientific research to improve patient care.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal free night is grabbing dinner with friends, trying a new café, or just relaxing and watching a movie after a busy week.
