Right now I am studying general psychology and after I graduate I hope to become a counseling psychologist. Here at UCF I am a part of Catholic Campus ministry. As a freshman some of my favorite memories here have been hanging out with my roommates exploring Orlando, pickleball, and doing a cycling class.

Describe your college experience

Even though my house is in Middleburg UCF has become my home. Transitioning from a life I have always know with my family, friends, and teachers made me have feelings about missing home when I left for college. But in the contrary I have found an amazing community here with my roommates and classmates that have become a new family to me. After a day full of class, hanging with friends, and doing fun activities walking into my dorm at the end of the day truly makes me feel like I have settled in at UCF. I always wanted to go to a school that supports my needs. UCF is the perfect school for me, supporting my academics, extracurriculars, and friends. I would not want to be at any other university.

Tip for future students

One tip I would give to future students is to be a problem solver. Life is not perfect but when things go wrong we have an option to complain about it or get creative and try to fix it. When you live on your own you have to be your own boss and master your habits or they will master you. It is also important to get involved in the community. Don’t be afraid to try something new because you may end up loving it. A good thing to do in college is be the friend you would want to have. Always have courage to talk to people because you never know what they are going through.

Favorite class

My favorite class this far has been intro to philosophy. In this class we have analyzed arguments for and against the existence of God. As a Catholic it has been very interesting learn about this. We read St. Thomas Aquinas for an argument for the existence of God and Mackie, against the existence of God. My professor has explained the information in a way that is fun. I have never been bored in class and I look forward to going to it every day.

Career goals

After I graduate I hope to become a counseling psychologist. I want to help people who are struggling and make them feel seen, known, and loved. I have a desire to care for people by listening to what they are saying giving them my full attention making them feel important.

Ideal way to spend a free night

An Ideal way to spend a free night for me is to go to Mass or Adoration. This gives me a chance to live out my faith. I also love doing stuff with my roommates for dinner, shopping, or exploring places around UCF. Going outside the lake at Hercules calling my family and friends back home is something I also really enjoy. A free night is also the perfect time to try new activities around campus like pickleball, cycling, or going to the pool.
