Hi!! My name is Chloe, and I am going into my 3rd year at UW majoring in Gender, Women, Sexuality Studies and minoring in Diversity and Public Policy. Throughout my experience thus far, I have worked to find my spot at such a large school through extracurricular activities and dorm life, while also navigating the (sometimes complicated) quarter system of UW. This school has given me a lot of opportunities that I would love to discuss with you on a tour!

Describe your college experience

I took a gap year after high school after being rejected from UW, and I began Fall quarter 2024 after being admitted the second time around! (So I know how painful the admissions process can be!) I have had a great experience so far with making friends and having unique opportunities. I would be lying if I said it has all been easy, but I think the challenges I've endured are all part of my growth in college!

Tip for future students

I think this can be better described based on what concerns students have, but overall, I think it is important to choose a school based on what you want to get out of the experience, whether that is academics, culture, or something else.

Favorite class

My favorite class was Introduction to Global Literatures, which I took just because I needed another class in my schedule. The class ended up having only 6 people and was a great space to use my voice in class. I was challenged to expand how I read books and learn to write concisely, and the professor gave amazing feedback and lectures. I also really enjoyed my history and political science courses I took while studying abroad!

Career goals

I am interested in working for a social justice oriented non-profit organization. I am interested in many social justice issues, such as LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive rights, and climate justice. I am hoping to work for a few years and then get my masters in social work.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I love meeting with friends to eat somewhere on the Ave and then hitting an improv comedy show or doing a movie night!

Previous college

Olney Central College I took dual-credit courses in high school (not AP or IB) and had around 40 credits transfer over. I haven't had issues with this process, and it has allowed me to skip taking classes I was uninterested in that I needed to fill a requirement and instead explore courses that I found intriguing.
