I am a second year at UCSC, majoring in psychology in hopes of becoming a mental health therapist with an emphasis on child development. I love sports, especially softball and baseball, baking, outdoors, and arts and crafts. I'm very outgoing once you get to know me and really enjoy reading poetry. I am also a Stranger Things fanatic and love traveling.

Describe your college experience

I am a first generation college student, so when I first arrived I was very nervous. Yet, I was greeted by great people and joined many clubs, which allowed me to make friends and connections with others. Being on the softball team and involved in student government allowed me to make a difference in my community and even helped me grow as a person. I love college and the atmosphere UCSC has and how inclusive it is.

Tip for future students

Something that really helped me as a first year college student was forcing myself to get out there and try new things. Even if you don't like it, you can meet so many people. Don't be afraid to explore. Going on walks and taking the bus into town helped me become more comfortable and even showed me places I never seen before. Something I wish I knew before starting school was how many opportunities college brought me and how there is always help everywhere, whether that be for a class or even your personal life.

Favorite class

My favorite class so far has been my feminist class. Even though I am a psychology major I took feminist class to get different insights on the lives of others. It was one of the most eye opening classes to me and even taught me how everyone's life is different and even the hardships women go through everyday. I would've never known about any of the things I learned in that class if I didn't take it.

Career goals

After college I hope to attend graduate school and get my masters degree in clinical psychology. I want to be a mental health therapist with an emphasis on children and teens. I love helping people and even connecting my personal life to my work is very important to me, so I can understand people on a different level.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is with my best friends. My best friends and I love going on side quests and driving around our small town with the music blasting. We always stop and grab a fun drink and head back to the house and talk for hours on end.
