Hi!! My name is Morgan Melcher, and I'm a sophomore at the University of Delaware! I have a major in Human Services with a concentration in Pre-Counseling Services, along with two minors, Disability Studies and Domestic Violence Prevention Services. After being at the University of Delaware for over a year, I've come to learn a thing or two about getting around on campus, the best spots to eat and study, and fun things to do nearby. As a proud UD student, I find it a great privilege sharing more about the school I've come to love.

Describe your college experience

The transition from a small-town high school to a large and bustling university was challenging. For much of my first semester, I had trouble meeting new people and getting involved on campus. In my spring semester, I made the best choice I could make by putting myself out there and rushing PSP, as well as attending club meetings.

Tip for future students

For students entering college for the first time or students transferring to a new school, my advice is to try different things. One thing I've learned is that you don't know how something will turn out unless you give it a go. As an introvert myself, this idea is intimidating, but a rewarding feat that allows your college experience to blossom with you.

Favorite class

My favorite class was Gender and Violence (WOMS240, I believe) with the amazing Dr. Angela Hattery. This class fully immersed me in real-life events happening around the world, as well as taught me skills on how to make a difference in my community.

Career goals

After I complete my Bachelor's degree, I plan to continue my education by obtaining my Master's degree, allowing me to become a licensed therapist. With my degrees, I plan to run my own practice as a Licensed Therapist for members of my community, while working with local non-profits and humanitarian efforts.

Ideal way to spend a free night

On a free night, I enjoy meeting my friends. I love exploring campus by going on walks and trying new places to eat on campus. Perkins Student Center has many activities to play with friends, whether it be the E-sports arena or playing billiards and air hockey.

High school or secondary school

I attended Oley Valley High School (PA), graduating a year early.
