Friendly Business Student at UW Seattle

Hello! My name is Hazel and I'm a third-year student studying Finance and Accounting at UW Seattle. I'm an out-of-state student from the Chicagoland area so I am very familiar with the life that comes with being out-of-state. In my free time, I'm part of a sorority, play intramural soccer, read and write, and hang out with my friends. I love meeting new people and I'm super passionate about UW so feel free to reach out!

Describe your college experience

I have had a blast in my college experience so far! It was definitely nerve-wracking coming to live so far from home, but I've found my best friends and we've gone on many adventures together (including studying abroad and traveling around Europe this summer). Furthermore, my academic development has been completely bolstered by the Foster School of Business, a world-class education. I've learned so much, and I've gotten many opportunities to develop my professional and interpersonal skills. I'm even looking forward to two separate study abroad experiences.

Tip for future students

Say yes to anything and everything, but also understand that it's okay to take time for yourself! Branch out and try things you would never do, especially in nature since you're in beautiful Seattle. Don't be afraid to be a little embarrassing, because it truly doesn't matter what other people think of you!

Favorite class

My favorite class has been either MGMT 200, which is the Introduction to Business Law, or OPMGT 301, which is Principles of Operations Management. However, I'm getting into the upper-level finance classes in the next few quarters so I think I'll really enjoy those.

Career goals

I hope to travel the world for a while immediately post-grad through the WorldPackers Program, but following that I am interested in working in the finance field (unsure what kind yet) internationally as an expat.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I love cinema, so watching a new movie is always a classic for me. I also love to hang out with my friends, grabbing a sweet treat somewhere or going on a late-night drive. If I'm in the mood, I do enjoy going out and socializing with new people!
