Math and stats double major with research experience

Hi! I'm Roman, and I'm a sophomore in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University double majoring in math and stats. I'm originally from Boston, MA, and like to play tennis and hang out with my friends. I did research for two summers in high school at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School, and will be returning there to conduct research this summer.

Describe your college experience

While adjusting to the expectations of college was a unique challenge, I feel like I've already grown so much in my first year. Managing classes and the larger amount of free time available in college took some trial and error, but I think everyone eventually finds what works for them. It's definitely important (and much more enjoyable) to find other people to spend time with, whether it be for studying or for fun.

Tip for future students

I think that establishing a predictable routine is what helped me settle into college the most. This can take a little bit of time though, so it's definitely normal to feel a bit lost at first.

Favorite class

I've enjoyed my intro statistics classes. I learned a lot but the environment was not too stressful and I was able to make some good friends in them.

Career goals

I'm aiming to get a job in quantitative finance, tech, or consulting after graduating.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal night would be to hang out with friends somewhere in downtown Chicago or Evanston and head back to a dorm for late night games in a game room.

High school or secondary school

Brookline High School, Brookline, MA.
