UTK Private Tour Guide! - ONLINE TOURS TILL AUGUST 16
*NOTE* I am currently taking online tours this summer until I return to campus in the fall! In-person tours will begin in August! Thanks! Hi! My name is Maya, and I am a junior at the University of Tennessee. I have absolutely loved my time here and am excited to share my experience with future Vols! I'm involved in several organizations on campus and am happy to talk about anything from academics, clubs, and Greek life to football games, traditions, Tennessee life, and campus culture. As an undecided student when I first arrived at UT, I explored a variety of majors and courses, giving me insight into many different departments and opportunities across campus. Whether you have questions about classes, getting involved, or what student life is really like, I'd love to help!

Describe your college experience
Coming to UT from out of state, I was nervous about finding my place at such a large university. Looking back, I can confidently say that UT offers so many opportunities to get involved that it's hard not to make friends! Through clubs, campus events, academics, and student organizations, I've found an amazing community and made connections that have truly made UT feel like home.
Tip for future students
My biggest piece of advice for future students is to try everything! Sign up for clubs, attend events, explore organizations, and don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. Some of my favorite college experiences came from opportunities I never expected to enjoy. My motto is that it's always okay to decide something isn't for you and step away later, but you don't want to look back and regret never giving it a chance. College is the perfect time to explore new interests, meet new people, and discover what you're passionate about!
Favorite class
It's hard to choose just one favorite class because I've enjoyed so many of them, but Painting has definitely been a highlight. I learned so much this past semester, and I loved how my professor worked with each student on an individual basis. He adapted his teaching to meet each person's needs and goals, which created a really supportive and inspiring classroom environment.
Career goals
I am currently pursuing a degree in Fine Arts with a minor in Art Education. My goal is to become a high school or college art teacher, where I can share my passion for art and help students develop their creativity, confidence, and artistic skills. I love both creating art and working with others, so teaching allows me to combine two things I care deeply about.
Ideal way to spend a free night
During the week, my ideal free night would include getting a workout in and spending time with my three amazing roommates. Whether we're relaxing at home, watching a movie, or just catching up after a busy day, I always enjoy spending time with them. On the weekends, we usually like to go out, meet up with friends, and explore downtown Knoxville. It's a great way to unwind, make memories, and experience everything the city has to offer!
