Highly-involved Senior at USC studying Film and Screenwriting.

Brodie Z
Brodie ZNew

Hello! My name is Brodie Zeigler, and I'm a rising senior at USC in the School of Cinematic Arts and the Dornsife College of Arts & Sciences. I am a Film Studies major and Screenwriting minor, but I also have extensive curriculum experience in STEM, specifically mathematics, as well as the Thornton School of Music. I am a transfer student from Wesleyan University, so I know what it is like on both spectrums of the college experience, from the intimacy of the liberal arts to the scope and fun of a school like USC!

Describe your college experience

I transferred from Wesleyan University because I was having doubts about my experience as a freshman student there, and thought that I could get something more out of the college experience somwhere else. USC has been the answer to that question and more; I have become deeply involved on campus in both Greek Life and pre-professional organizations, and currently hold a 4.0 GPA as a major and minor within the prestigious School of Cinematic Arts. I am deeply embedded in the academic and social culture here on campus, and have had a spectacular experience merging both the social grandiosity and the academic diligence that being a Trojan has to offer.

Tip for future students

Take all the electives you can, and engrain yourself in the campus life as soon as possible. There is so much that USC has to offer, but you need to make sure that your door is open for those opportunities to come through. Never turn down an inivitation to a campus event or a social outing, and always try and get to know your neighbor!

Favorite class

My favorite class at USC so far has either been my CTWR409: Introduction to Screenwriting class or my MPVA141: Introduction to Singing course. Both courses were introductory instructions in something I didn't have experience in, but the fantastic faculty at USC made it both approachable and very inspiring.

Career goals

I hope to work in the enteratinment industry as a festival curator, film professor, or screenwriter.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is to either stay around USC and spend time with friends on and around campus, or go into Los Angeles and explore the restaurants and nightlife scene there.

Previous college

Wesleyan University. My transfer experience was very tumultuous coming from a school with no accreditation agreement with USC, however USC was very inviting and I ended up not regretting a thing about the journey. Furthermore, I took a semester off and was able to travel the country for sixteen weeks with a dear friend, allowing me to come into USC as a much more social person and with much more understanding of who I was.
