Texas A&M Student Guide | Engineering + Business | Real Campus Life & Opportunit

Ronit P
Ronit PNew

Hi! I’m Ronit, a current Electrical Engineering and Business student at Texas A&M (Class of 2029). I just completed my freshman year, so I can give you a really real and current perspective on what it’s like transitioning into college here. I’ve taken advantage of a lot of the opportunities A&M offers and have completed internships with companies like NASA, Tesla, Amazon, and Uber. Through that, I’ve learned how to navigate the resources, programs, and networks on campus, and I’d be happy to show you how to make the most of them. I’m also involved in a variety of organizations on campus, from Greek life to professional and student-led clubs, so I have a well-rounded perspective on both the social and career sides of A&M. I’m well connected on campus and would love to help make your transition as smooth as possible. Outside of academics, I enjoy staying active, especially running, and keeping a good balance between school and everything else college has to offer. If you’re looking for a tour that’s genuine, conversational, and gives you real insight into Texas A&M, I’d love to show you around.

Clubs, organizations & involvement

I’m involved in a mix of fun and professional organizations on campus. On the social side, I’m part of things like Run Club, pickleball, and rec basketball leagues, so I’m always meeting people and staying active. I’m also involved in a few professional and product-focused orgs, which has helped me get more involved on campus and build a strong network. Overall, I’ve had a great time getting plugged in at A&M and meeting people from all different circles.

Describe your college experience

Coming into Texas A&M, the transition felt big at first, but it quickly became one of the best decisions I’ve made. I’ve been able to get involved early, meet a wide range of people, and really take advantage of everything the university offers. From academics to campus life, I’ve found a strong balance between staying focused on my goals and enjoying the college experience. A&M is a place where you truly get out what you put in, and I’ve loved building both my network and my independence here.

Tip for future students

Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there early. Join clubs, talk to people in your classes, and say yes to opportunities even if they feel a little uncomfortable at first. Also, use the resources A&M gives you. There are so many opportunities here, but you have to take initiative to find them. Once you do, everything starts to fall into place.

Favorite class

One of my favorite classes so far has been one that blends technical thinking with real-world application. I enjoy classes where you’re not just memorizing concepts, but actually learning how to apply them, whether that’s through projects, collaboration, or problem-solving. Those kinds of classes have helped me better understand what I want to do long-term and have made learning a lot more engaging.

Career goals

After college, I’m looking to work at the intersection of technology and business, ideally in a role where I can help build or improve products that people actually use. Long term, I want to be in a position where I can lead projects, work on meaningful problems, and continue growing both technically and professionally.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal free night is a mix of staying active and spending time with friends. Usually that looks like a run around campus or a quick workout, followed by grabbing food with friends and just relaxing. Sometimes it’s as simple as hanging out, watching a game, or exploring new spots around College Station. It’s a good balance of unwinding while still staying social.
