Describe your college experience

Transitioning to college at the University of Texas at Austin was both exciting and challenging, but it quickly became an experience that helped me grow academically and personally. Coming from a structured high school environment, I had to learn how to manage my time independently, balance a rigorous course load, and get involved on campus. While the adjustment took effort at first, I found that getting involved in organizations and building relationships with classmates and professors made UT feel like home. So far, my college experience has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve challenged myself academically as a Nursing student while also becoming involved in campus organizations and leadership roles, which have helped me grow in confidence and communication skills. I’ve also enjoyed exploring campus traditions, studying in different spots around UT, and experiencing everything Austin has to offer. Overall, my time at UT has helped me become more independent, motivated, and excited about my future.

Tip for future students

One of the biggest tips I would share is to get involved early and be open to trying new things. It can feel overwhelming at first, but joining organizations, attending campus events, and introducing yourself to classmates makes a big difference in helping campus feel smaller and more welcoming. UT has so many opportunities, and getting involved helped me meet friends, find mentors, and feel more connected to the university. I also wish I had known how important time management is from the start. College gives you a lot of independence, which is great, but it also means staying organized and planning ahead for exams and assignments is key. Finding good study spots, using office hours, and building a routine early on can make the transition much smoother. Most importantly, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Students, professors, and advisors are all great resources and genuinely want to help you succeed.

Favorite class

My favorite class so far has been Chemistry II. I had a great professor who made complex concepts easier to understand and created an engaging, supportive learning environment. I also genuinely enjoy learning chemistry, so it was rewarding to dive deeper into the material and carry pon what I learned into Ochem. I know chemistry isn’t everyone’s favorite subject, but having a strong professor made a huge difference in my experience.

Career goals

I hope to become a pediatric nurse. I haven't decided yet if I will do a masters program or go back to school to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I love baking, so getting together with friends to wind down after a long school day and bake together and watch a movie has been really fun.
