Describe your college experience

Coming to college was a big transition for me as an only child. Learning how to cook, live on my own, and manage everything independently was a challenge. During my first semester, I worked at a leasing office, but I decided to step away so I could get more involved on campus. That ended up being one of the best decisions I've made. I found my community and some of my closest friends through Communication Council!

Tip for future students

Be okay with the transition feeling a little messy at first; it's completely normal. Try not to compare your experience to others, and take chances on things that genuinely interest you. You never know where something might lead or who you might meet.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been my UGS, Philanthropy: The Power of Giving. We worked directly with real nonprofits and even got to donate to the top three organizations at the end of the semester. It helped me discover my passion for philanthropy and ultimately led me to add a minor in Communicating for Development and Philanthropy.

Career goals

After college, I hope to work in healthcare philanthropy, ideally at a children's hospital foundation, focusing on fundraising and building relationships with corporate donors.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Trying a new restaurant in Austin and watching a movie, ideally ending the night with an early bedtime.
