A couple of facts about me: I grew up in a town quite similar to this one, a couple of hours south of here, called Manhattan Beach. I grew up near the beach, and I just had to stay close to it even during college! I am currently involved in Greek life here at UCSB as an Alpha Chi Omega, and I am a pre-political science major. I absolutely adore this school, and I can't wait to show you around.

Describe your college experience

Since coming to UCSB, it has gone past all of my expectations in every way possible. When selecting my classes, I didn't find GOLD too difficult to work around and was able to choose classes I know and love. I am very close with my roommates and was able to create a perfect dorm life experience. Through Greek life, I have been able to meet so many new people, look at new job opportunities, and make new friends. I will admit, like anyone, I was nervous about making friends, but being on the UCSB campus made it easy. Additionally, being involved in clubs has also enhanced my connections. However, not everything was an easy transition. In moments, I can have intense anxiety and tend to overthink things. College can be scary, especially with so much unknown. But UCSB and my new friends have helped me see past that and grow as a person and a student.

Tip for future students

My biggest tip for future students, and one I wish I had given to myself and strive to live by, is to go with the flow. Life is a crazy journey, and holding yourself back to overthink the little things or worry about every decision you make is just holding yourself back. The only way to fully enjoy the crazy next stage of life that is college is to have an open mind and to embrace everything this school has to offer. Everyone says to say "yes" to everything, and honestly its true. You never know how a situation is going to turn out before you give it a shot. Your next closest friends or people could be just around the corner, and all you have to do is make an effort.

Favorite class

So far, my favorite class has been Poverty, Inequality, and Social Justice. Given the title, it was clear what the course was going to cover, but I could never prepared myself for the depth and emotion covered in that class. We covered aspects of history, influential people, and events that I had never heard of, and I became extremely grateful to have learned what I did every day in that class. These issues we covered spanned all the way back to the 1300's, up until today's current events. I loved the professor, the discussions, and the newly formed thoughts that emerged in my mind.

Career goals

Although three years from now, after college I do see myself pursuing a higher level of education. Whether it's in politics, law, or education, I wish to continue to push myself academically. Excluding education, I hope that after college I maintain my friendships, continue to find ways to give back to my community, and visit my family often.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is having all my friends, from different dorms, over to my dorm and finding something to do. Whether it's going to In-n-Out, finding a party in Del Playa, or simply talking and playing board games, spending a night with laughter is my ideal free night.
