Describe your college experience
Overall college has been great, but like any major transition there are going to be some bumps in the road. One of the best aspects of college is forming bonds with those around you, creating friendships is definitely the biggest support.
Tip for future students
Some of my biggest tips for incoming students is start small with the amount of stuff you bring, especially if you are moving into a dorm. You can always add, but moving out with everything you have ever owned is incredibly stressful. I also wish I knew that it is okay to not end up succeeding in a major/career you originally thought you would. Don’t make yourself stay in something because its what you thought you would always do, college students are young and it is important to remember that you grow and change a lot during this time, and your passions and strengths/weaknesses will change with you! Another huge tip is that comparison truly is the thief of joy, just because your roommate or friends might be doing things or excelling in things does not mean that you have to be right there with them. Whether it’s life or a career path, or anything in between, it is okay to do something different or need more support!
Favorite class
My favorite class has been my intermediate poetry class because it was a very small group and we ended up forming strong friendships with each other. It was also interesting to read each other’s writing and help all of us grow as writers.
Career goals
I hope to become an english teacher at either a middle school or high school level.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night is to get some good takeout and just relax with friends, sometimes its hard to make time to relax and truly disconnect from school, so it is important to allocate that time especially with people you love!
