University of California, Los Angeles
3rd Year Bioengineering Major
I'm currently a part of two research labs, the Interconnected and Integrated Bioelectronics Lab and the Drug Discovery Lab, which has given me experience with dry lab work like building wearable bioelectronic devices and wet lab work like treating cells. I also am an editor for the Undergraduate Science Journal, where I help disseminate student research. Next year, I'll also be teaching an introductory class on hydrogel chemistry. Outside of academics, I enjoy reading classics, playing guitar, and listening to my CD collection.

Describe your college experience
I feel like the UCLA community is very welcoming, and stucents definitely try to help each other succeed. I have yet to have a bad group project experience.
Tip for future students
The class sizes are huge which means you don't get any attention from your professors. I personally prefer this as I'm an independent learner, but if you want real class discussions, then a UC definitely isn't the way to go. It's also really hard to enroll in the classes you need since there's such high demand. So far I have been able to get everything I needed, but I have had to enroll in conflicts or really early/late classes since they were the only ones left. For this reason, don't expect to be able to perfectly follow your four year plan.
Favorite class
Film TV 33, Introductory Screenwriting! I took it just for fun, knowing it didn't count as a GE. It was amazing to be able to learn from industry experts who had worked with famous celebrities like Kevin Spacey and Cate Blanchett. I learned so much about the art of storytelling in film, and I even got to write my own screenplay!
Career goals
I'm planning on either going to grad school or working at a biotech company full time.
