University of Florida
Guided Tour from a UF Neuroscience Gator!
Hi! My name is Kelly and I am a junior at the University of Florida studying Neuroscience and Classical History on a Pre-PA track. I love cats, baking, walking/hiking, and art and crafts in my free time along with hanging out with my friends. I, like many students, was initially hesitant about attending college far from home but Gainesville has become my second home and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Describe your college experience
I live 12 hours away from home in Virginia so for me to come to UF was an experiment in itself, the first few months was hard trying to be more independent and working out classes. Over time I have come to find my people and I could not be happier with my choice of colleges. I am a somewhat introverted person so I really had to force myself to get out and put myself out of my comfort zone.
Tip for future students
I would say yes to everything, within reason of course. The only way you will find your way and people on campus is by getting out and meeting people and doing the things you love. Do not be afraid to ask for help, as UF is set up to help students with almost any problem they may face. UF is a very rigorous school so finding a balance between fun and work is very important, try to do that as early on as possible and get in your own groove!
Favorite class
My favorite class was my Quest 1 class called Wisdom and Heroism. This class is what initially led me to pursue a classical history minor as it was very history oriented; the professor was very passionate about the class and getting to know his students as well.
Career goals
I hope to attend Physician Assistant (PA) School after I take a gap year to gain some medical experience as a CNA.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night is spending it with my roommates at UF, they are my best friends and we have so much fun whenever we're together (which is almost every day). Also snuggled up on my couch with my cat watching a movie is always a good night.
High school or secondary school
I attended Tabb High School in Yorktown, Virginia.
