University of Kentucky
Outgoing, Passionate, Community-driven, Knowledgeable, and Welcoming
Hi! I’m Emmy, and I’m thrilled to be one of your University of Kentucky tour guides! Although I’m not originally from Lexington, I’ve fallen in love with this city through years of exploring every corner. I pride myself in knowing all of the best places in Lexington. In fact, I’m even a certified Lexpert through Lexington’s Visitor Center! I proudly bleed blue and live for all things Wildcat. UK has given me countless opportunities, both on campus and throughout this incredible community, and I can’t wait to share my story, answer your questions, and help you envision your own future here. Go Cats!

Clubs, organizations & involvement
My time at UK has been shaped by the incredible communities I’ve found through getting involved on campus. I joined a sorority through primary recruitment my freshman year, which opened the door to lasting friendships and meaningful leadership opportunities. One of the most impactful experiences has been participating in DanceBlue, our 24-hour dance marathon that raises funds for childhood cancer research, an event full of heart, energy, and purpose. Outside of campus, I work full-time in hospitality, which has helped me grow both personally and professionally. I’ve also built a close connection with Wildcat Service Dogs, and last year I had the amazing opportunity to live with one of their dogs and help the progression of his training. Another cause close to my heart is the Big Blue Pantry, UK’s on-campus initiative to combat food insecurity among students. You’ll often find me there helping the director, Andrew, organize and stock the pantry. Honestly, unloading a truck full of pallets is way more fun than you’d think! When I’m not working or volunteering, you can usually find me learning new aerial tricks in Circus Club or relaxing with friends in Crochet Club, two of the more unique spaces that UK offers. I also spend a lot of time exploring Lexington’s local music scene to support friends in student bands. Whether it’s through service, creativity, or connection, UK has given me countless ways to grow and I’m so grateful for every part of it.

Describe your college experience
I’m from a small town with fewer than 5,000 people, the kind of place where everyone knows everyone. Coming to college, I was ready to step outside that familiar bubble and carve out my own path. I wanted a place full of new experiences, new people, and new opportunities, and I found exactly that at the University of Kentucky. From the moment I arrived on campus, everything started falling into place. I met my two best friends on move-in day (I'm beyond lucky), and since then, UK has continued to surprise me with how welcoming and life-changing it can be. Getting involved on campus has opened countless doors, introducing me to inspiring people, meaningful opportunities, and friendships I’ll carry for life. UK has been incredibly kind to me, and I feel lucky every day to call it home.
Tip for future students
1.Go to all of your classes. You pay for them! 2.Review after class, spreading out your studying is more productive than cramming 3. Learn about all of the resources you have on campus, its more than you think.
Favorite class
CHEM 105 though the content wasn't the easiest U.K made it so it was still an enjoyable experience with all of the resources and help given. Really helped solidify that U.K was the right choice!
