Campus Tour with a Senior – Explore UK as a student and Lexington Like a Local
Hi! I’m originally from Tennessee, and I’m heading into my senior year at University of Kentucky graduating this year. Over the past few years, I’ve really grown to love campus life and everything Lexington has to offer. I enjoy running, cheering on our football and basketball teams, and spending time downtown exploring local spots with friends. Whether it’s trying new restaurants, catching a game, or just soaking in the campus vibe

Describe your college experience
My transition to college was a little bumpy but overall great. I think the hardest part for me was being in a totally different state away from family. Also going to a school where I knew no one, but the first week for freshman’s they have so many activities in which you meet and get to know people. You just have to be open and realize everyone is in the same boat as you new start, so be willing to that with them.
Tip for future students
The thing I wish I would’ve done is be more open with my professors and be willing to ask questions. For me, professors seemed way smarter than me, and I was afraid to ask for help, as I might be asking a dumb question or wasting their time. Also the lot bigger class size seemed intimidating. However after I made that first step for asking for help that professor and many like it were eager and wanting to help. Professor are there to make you better and they love when you ask questions.
Favorite class
My favorite class has been Animal Physiology because I got to know more about a topic I’m interested in and my professor was amazing. He made learning more than just basic PowerPoint presentations and memorization. He talked based on his life experiences, real world situations, and through experiments we performed in lab.
Career goals
I hope to attend medical school, and become a passionate, caring physician that serves underserved communities. My interests right now are Emergency Medicine and Orthopedics, but I’m excited to explore more in medical school.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal night is to go with friends to the Lexington Theatre to watch a classic or black-white movie. The theater has been there over 100 yrs so it has a lot of nostalgia and history of the city. Also I love watching old movies and eating tub of popcorn.
