Clubs, organizations & involvement
I have been actively involved in several organizations, holding leadership positions such as a Secretary for two years in the Student Government Association, Secretary and Vice President in the Pre-Health Club, and Vice President of Fellowship in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. I also participated in the SAFE Club and volunteered for Summit Point Church’s Compassion Day (2021–2023), Ronald McDonald House Charities Passion Project, 4surg unit at OSF, Camp Hope Medical Tent, and the St. Jude Run (2022–2025). My clinical experience includes working as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the Neuroscience ICU at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, where I provide direct patient care and gained critical exposure to acute neurological cases. Additionally, I served as a Float Pool PCT, supporting various hospital units. My research experience includes co-investigator roles in the MMA Embolization Study and Carotid Stent Study with OSF’s neurosurgery team, both studies pending publication. I also contributed as the first author in the Ulnar Nerve Case Study and as the second author in the Meningioma Associated ICH Case Study, along with clinical and lab research collaborations with OSF’s clinical research team and the Peoria School of Medicine.

Describe your college experience
I graduated high school a year early, finishing my junior year at Washington Community High School in Washington, Illinois. At the time, I wasn’t sure if I was ready to leave home, so I made the practical decision to attend community college to earn my associate degree and save money. The biggest adjustment was the sudden independence—I no longer had anyone reminding me to complete assignments or guiding my decisions. Every choice, every step I took toward my future became entirely my responsibility. Initially, managing my college timeline and planning my path to medical school felt overwhelming, but this process has helped me grow tremendously. I’ve learned how to structure my life, hold myself accountable, and develop a strong sense of self-direction that continues to benefit me.
Tip for future students
One of the biggest tips I have for starting college is to learn how to manage your time early because it's easy to fall behind when no one is checking in on you. I also wish I had known that it's completely normal not to have everything figured out right away. Your path can change, and that’s part of the journey. Building strong relationships with professors and getting involved outside of class can open doors and help you grow in ways you don’t expect. Most importantly, don’t hesitate to ask for help—whether you’re struggling academically, emotionally, or just feeling unsure, there are people who want to support you.
Favorite class
My favorite classes will be the upper-level neuroscience electives, where I can dive deeper into complex brain systems and neurological disorders.
Career goals
My goal is to pursue a career in medicine with a strong interest in neurology or vascular surgery. I am passionate about combining clinical work with research to improve patient outcomes and contribute to advancements in these fields. Ultimately, I hope to become a physician who not only provides excellent care but also advocates for patients, especially in complex or underserved areas.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night is going to the gym, taking time for some self-care, and heading to bed early to catch up on sleep and recharge.
