Hi! I’m Amanda, a neuroscience major from Miami who’s fallen in love with all things UF. Outside of class, I’m involved in Phi Delta Epsilon, volunteer at a local nursing home, and participate in UF RAM clinic trips to serve underserved communities. You can also find me at a football game, baseball game, or painting at the Reitz with friends or attending any campus events that bring Gators together. I can’t wait to help you see what makes life at UF so special!

Describe your college experience

I started UF with 69 credits from earning my Associate’s Degree in high school, so I jumped straight into upper-level classes and extracurriculars. At first, it was intense—I felt like I was playing catch-up socially and emotionally while sprinting academically. But over time, I decided to slow down, be present, and really enjoy college for everything it has to offer. Getting involved with Phi Delta Epsilon, volunteering at a nursing home, going on RAM clinic trips, and even attending sports games and utilizing fun campus resources like the Reitz arts center or Lake Wauburg with friends have helped me find balance and joy here.

Tip for future students

Be outgoing—what’s the worst that could happen? The best parts of my college experience happened when I put myself out there. Talk to someone new in class, try a random event, or join a club you’re curious about. UF is huge, but that means there’s a place for everyone. Take chances, ask questions, and explore everything. You don’t have to have it all figured out—just be open to growing and learning as you go.

Favorite class

Positive Psychology with Ryan Duffy! He was the funniest professor that made me truly want to go to class just because it brightened my day! It also taught me what real friendship is and so many life lessons about happiness and peace.

Career goals

After college, I plan to attend medical school and ultimately become a physician working with older adult populations, particularly in neurology or geriatrics. I’m passionate about improving healthcare access and education for Hispanic communities and hope to one day lead initiatives that empower caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal night off involves something relaxing and creative—like painting in the Plaza with my best friends, cooking a cozy dinner, or going on a long walk to catch the sunset. I also love spontaneous plans, so I’m always down for a movie night or grabbing food with people I love.
