Describe your college experience
My college transition was fun but stressful during my first semester. Adjusting to campus life at Michigan is difficult, but extremely rewarding at the same time. There is so much to get involved in on campus, from clubs to greek life. Getting too involved is certainly a worry, as I definitely wanted to say "yes" to everything. However, striking a balance between social, academic, and personal life is possible and gets much easier as you progress at Michigan (and I can pass on some freshman year tips!)
Tip for future students
Firstly, make sure to use LSA Course Guide and Atlas to search for classes that fit your idea of a manageable schedule! Freshman year is a time of adjustment, so don't throw yourself into 18+ credits or stack a day with 5 classes unless you deeply consider what living that week day-to-day is going to be like. If you're going into Ross, make sure to try and take Math 115 (Calculus credit) during the summer of your freshman year (makes your first academic year easier and protects your GPA). I have a ton of study spot, housing, and class recommendations that would take too long to type here, so reach out anytime!
Favorite class
My favorite class has undoubtedly been a sociology class (Sociology of the Elites - SOC 105)! The instructor was absolutely fascinating and made class engaging by focusing on discussions, not lectures, during class. Additionally, it's a first-year seminar so any incoming freshman can enroll in the class, providing that it is offered. No exams, minimal homework, and a few in-class writing excitement make this class a pleasure to attend and explore what makes elite culture from educational, social, and political lenses.
Career goals
I hope to work in consulting, preferably in Chicago. Career decisions can be super stressful, so I can offer advice on the most common careers that Ross undergrads go into (at least from my perspective)!
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night would be exploring Ann Arbor with a few friends. Whether at Blue Llama Jazz Club or Pinball Pete's, there's a ton of fun spots around town to discover!
