Hi, I’m an upcoming sophomore that attends Penn State University. I enjoy reading, running, and meeting new people. I love participating in events that involve me making new connections amongst people, and experiencing the diversity this world has to offer, especially at Penn State University. Describe your college experience

As for most freshman coming from high school to College was definitely a new transition for me that came with its ups and downs, but I’m so glad to say I’ve had more ups. I would say the hardest part was learning to be more independent, because now you’re no longer with your parents, but even that experience was rewarding. Being in college has definitely helped me to communicate better with others, be more productive in my time management, and has set me up for future goals I would love to obtain. Coming to college helped me to reach more maturity heights, while also knowing that it is okay to call out for help. I am so grateful For God, My Mother, and the various recourses offered at Penn State to ensure us students are able to have a college experience with multiple support systems.

Tip for future students

One tip I would say to future students, is to put yourself out there, join the many clubs they offer at Penn State. Even attend the involvement fair where you will find multiple clubs, sports, or sororities that offer all sorts of activities that pertain to anything you enjoy doing. No matter what you will find at least one thing you enjoy! The second tip is to learn how to properly study, learn what works for you. By my second semester I learned how to properly study that helped me to retain the knowledge. Every student is different so find what works for you, also no matter what always review notes and homework’s after class…I promise it will help! Lastly, enjoy college, make memories and choose a wise group of friends and community that will support you not bring you down!

Favorite class

My favorite class has been African American history, Women’s African American history, and English I took my freshman year. I love these classes because as an African American girl I was able to learn more about my culture that goes beyond what we were limited to know. Also though the class was just strictly on the bad things but about all the first things that was done by African Americans. Lastly I really enjoyed my English class, because not only did we have to write what the prompt desired for us we were allowed to write about our opinions, thoughts, and traits on every topic. Also there was a lot of visual learning, and fun attributes my professors added to the class.

Career goals

After obtaining my bachelor’s degree in Economics I plan to finish my studies at the law program that is offered here at Penn State.

Ideal way to spend a free night

For me an ideal way to spend a free night is either between two things. Throughout the week I don’t have much time to watch a movie or shows. So for me when I did have a free night I enjoyed watching movies, or tv shows, alone or with friends. I would have my skincare done, shower taken, all assignments turned in and binged watched until I slept. The second would be spending time with friends our usual favorite was to get all dolled up and go to a new restaurant each week, we had a list of all the restaurants and would cross them off as we would go. Or my favorite was when everything was taking care of me and my friends would walk all around campus, and down town, it’s such a fun experience with the friends you love the most❤️
