Describe your college experience

Transitioning to college was tough! I had a challenging freshman year but have since gained greater confidence academically and socially. I'm here to give you my honest experience.

Tip for future students

I wish I had known to embrace the chaos of shopping period (the time at the beginning of the semester when all Brown students are deciding which classes to take). I also wish I had known that the process of finding good friends is a long and continuous one––not something that needs to happen in the first few weeks of school.

Favorite class

Francesca Mari's "Narrative Nonfiction" class, an introduction to long-form investigative journalism taught by an active contributor to the New York Times Magazine. The reading was engaging, and I learned how to conduct an investigation, how to interview subjects, and how the telling of narratives can shed light on broad social issues.

Career goals

I hope to work as a journalist or an editor for a publication.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I love to go to a lecture hall with friends, project a movie, and then talk about it over cards afterwards.

Meeting point

Van Wickle Gates on the Brown University campus

Really great tour. Desi took the time and care to show my daughter all around campus with a specific focus on her areas of study as well as sharing his own unique perspectives as a student. I could not recommend more highly.
