New York University
NYU Tour Guide
I am a current senior at NYU, focusing on public health for health administration. As a pre-med student, I work hard and play hard in and out of school. From public health research to emergency management organizations, the city has a lot to offer to promote professional development. I also love exploring the city for activities like candle making, painting, poetry, pottery, etc., and am excited to continue my journey in NYC!

Describe your college experience
As someone who transferred universities, I had a diverse perspective on the college experience. From a closed college campus to an open one, with different populations, I learned a lot from the people around me, the academic environments, and learned about the immense opportunities and how to acquire them in these types of environments.
Tip for future students
As a Resident Assistant, I have talked a lot with other students about what they want to do in their time in college. I always start with making a list of every place you can possibly think of visiting, and cross one off that list once a week. Besides that, in terms of professional development, apply to jobs early, reach to professors and especially recitation instructors, and make sure that regardless of where you end up, you do what you're passionate about, and it's okay to not know what that is yet.
Favorite class
Health Policy in a Global World. It was a great mix between public policy, current events, health management and administration, and public health. As someone entering into the field, the Socratic seminars, article and excerpt readings, and analytical essays from the class taught me a lot about the health systems around us, from how doctors treat patients to how documents are processed and affected by current events, all the way to health insurance ins and outs. I also made some amazing friends in the class who are passionate about the same field that I love, and for that, I am very grateful.
Career goals
I plan on going to grad school for either an MPH:Health Management or an MHA before continuing onto medical school to become a cardio thoracic surgeon / medical director.
Ideal way to spend a free night
I usually hang out with a small friend group (3-4 people) and go out around the Brooklyn Heights / Downtown Brooklyn area since I'm a resident assistant in the dorms there. We usually go down to DeKalb Undergroud Market, grab some food, go to the bookstore upstairs, and just talk and destress about the day. Especially in school, it's important to stay grounded in some way, and for me, that foundation is from the people I care about, so I spend most of my free time with them, even if it's a busy season and we just study with each other.
High school or secondary school
Lake Shore Senior High School - Derby, NY/USA
Previous college
University of Maryland - College Park, MD Tranferring was decently seamless in terms of academics. I had two advisors who I regularly interacted with for a few weeks to make sure everything was processed on time, so I definitely recommend reaching out to them as soon as you can once accepted into NYU. I still have great connections from the DMV area and get to see them in NYC. The student orientation NYU provided also led to two amazing friends that I'm close with to this day, which is why it doesn't really matter if you're a first year or a new transfer student, either way you'll find your people.
