Describe your college experience
Transitioning from high school to Cornell was a challenging experience. The academic rigor was much more demanding than I anticipated, and the weather could sometimes be a bit gloomy, which added to the adjustment. However, one of the standout aspects of my time at Cornell has been the strong sense of community. While the environment can sometimes feel overwhelming, the support and connections I've found here have been invaluable in helping me navigate both the highs and lows.
Tip for future students
Embrace the Rigorous Academic Environment: Don’t be discouraged if the workload feels overwhelming at first. Time management and seeking support from professors and peers are key to balancing everything effectively. 2. **Make Use of Resources**: Take advantage of Cornell’s academic and emotional support resources, including tutoring, counseling services, and campus activities. The community is strong, and there's always help when needed. Adapt to the Weather : The weather can be unpredictable, especially in the winter. Invest in good winter gear and embrace the changing seasons. While it can be gloomy at times, there are plenty of ways to stay active and upbeat even when it's cold. Get Involved in Campus Life : Join clubs or organizations that align with your interests. Getting involved will help you meet like-minded individuals and build lasting connections. Take Care of Your Mental Health : It’s easy to get caught up in the academic pressures, but remember to take breaks and prioritize self-care. The environment can feel isolating, but connecting with others can help combat that. Network and Build Relationships: Whether with professors, alumni, or fellow students, networking can open doors and provide valuable insights for both academic and career growth.
Favorite class
Comm 3070: Communicating Today was one of my favorite classes at Cornell. The professor fostered a supportive and understanding environment, demonstrating a genuine care for his students’ success. The course projects were especially rewarding, as they encouraged creativity and allowed for a great deal of freedom in how we approached assignments. Additionally, the professor’s flexible grading approach, including opportunities for make-ups, provided us with the chance to succeed and excel in the course. I thoroughly enjoyed the work and found it both engaging and intellectually stimulating.
Career goals
I will be a Lawyer after college.
Ideal way to spend a free night
An ideal way to spend a free night at Cornell would be to unwind with friends in a relaxed setting. I enjoy making snacks, such as Cinnabons, and indulging in a cozy movie or TV show marathon on Netflix. It’s a perfect balance of relaxation and socializing, providing an opportunity to recharge while enjoying good company and comfort food.
