Describe your college experience

My transition to college was definitely challenging at first. Moving away from New York without knowing anyone was a big adjustment, and it took time to find my footing both socially and academically. But over time, I learned how to manage college life, found my routine, and got involved in clubs that aligned with my interests. I’ve met some amazing people and grown a lot through the experience. I’ve learned what it’s like to truly be independent, and while there have been ups and downs, I’ve come to love it here and am proud of how far I’ve come.

Tip for future students

Coming from a small town to a massive university like Penn State felt like going from a group chat to a packed stadium—suddenly there were 50,000 people around and I didn’t know a single one. It was overwhelming at first, and honestly, I got lost more times than I’d like to admit (mentally and physically). But what helped the most was learning to manage my time and pushing myself to talk to new people—even if it was just someone next to me in class. Getting involved in clubs made the campus feel smaller, and now it really feels like home.

Favorite class

My favorite class so far has been KINES 202. It focuses on functional anatomy, which ties directly into my goal of pursuing a career in physical therapy. I especially enjoyed the lab portion—it was hands-on, engaging, and gave me a chance to really connect with my classmates while learning something new every day.

Career goals

After college, I think I want to go into physical therapy… or maybe athletic training… or possibly become an athletic director—who knows! I’m only 19, so I’m still figuring it out, but I know I want to be in a field where I can help people move, perform, and feel their best.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal night off would be getting all cute in my Penn State gear, grabbing dinner downtown with a friend, and heading to a wrestling match to cheer on my boyfriend as he competes for Penn State. Whether I’m with a friend or my family, it’s always such a fun atmosphere. And of course, the night wouldn’t be complete without a yummy dessert after!

High school or secondary school

I graduated from Port Jervis High School in Port Jervis, New York, in 2023.

Previous college

I didn’t transfer from another college, but I did dual enrollment through Syracuse University in high school and took summer courses at Orange County Community College to get ahead. That said, nothing compares to the experience and community I’ve found at Penn State.
