Hey there! My name is Yumi and I am a senior at UCSC studying in Global Community Health. I am super interested in Health Initiatives and Humanitarian Aid. My hobbies include journaling, going to the beach, and crafting things. I am super excited to provide tours about this campus that I've gotten to know well for 4 years.

Describe your college experience
Transitioning from high school to UCSC was a big jump. However, I was able to gain my independence with being a little far from home. I learnt self discipline, morals, and how to take care of myself. UCSC has always taught me life lessons that I will be sure to hold onto throughout the rest of my year.
Tip for future students
- know your finances (how you are funded with how much money and if you may have loans) - don't be afraid to try something new (you don't want to regret it in the future) - peer pressure is HUGE, put your foot down so you don't waste your time and energy (knowing how to set your boundaries becomes a big thing in college)
Favorite class
My favorite class was ENVS 65 - Intro to Fresh Water with Professor Haddad. This was a summer class that I took to fulfill a GE requirement and I found it really engaging and interesting to learn about the processes and policy of water. It gave me a wide sense of understanding for the necessity of water and how we as a society take it for granted.
Career goals
I hope to continue with my line of work and find a job that will consist of international work. I want to continue going to new places and being of a service to communities.
Ideal way to spend a free night
A free night consists of watching a really good movie, either horror, comedy, or emotional. I am going to spend the night on my own with no distractions and I'll have soup and noodles with snacks on the side. I like chill nights where I can wind down and take care of myself.

Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus is the Arc center. On a nice spring day, the view of the field, hills, and ocean from afar is so so gorgeous. It is peaceful and calming. I like to sit on the chairs in the middle of the field and have a chat with a friend or reflect on myself.
