A nursing major who tends to find every hidden gem on campus!
Hi! My name is Anna and I am a sophomore nursing major at Hofstra University, and living on campus has helped me grow into a much more independent and responsible person. Dorming taught me how to manage my time, take care of myself, and balance school, friendships, and everything life throws at me. I've faced my share of setbacks along the way, but I've learned how to persevere through them and keep moving forward. After living at Hofstra, I've also got to know all the little hidden gems around campus. Some of my favorite spots are HOFUSA for late-night snacks and desserts, the library when I need to lock in and study, the Science and Innovation center where I connect with my nursing peers, and the pool when I want to unwind. I love being able to share the places, tips, and experiences that made Hofstra feel home to me. I am so excited to meet all of you, the more questions the better! (If you are considering applying to the Nursing Program, I can show you the nursing building and answer all your questions about the nursing program!

Describe your college experience
My transition to college has been life-changing. In the beginning I made so many amazing peers who support me. However, at first I was not used to living alone and managing my own responsibilities. Whenever I had a setback with my academics, Hofstra provided walk-in tutoring sessions which helped me a lot with my studies. Now that I am a sophomore, I feel as if I am able to balance academics, extracurriculars, social life, and self-care at the same time. College and my experience with dorming definitely made me become a more responsible as an individual.
Tip for future students
If I were to give any tips to future students, they would be: - Never procrastinate on your homework or any studying. There is a lot of material in college courses and it is better to start earlier. - Get out of your comfort zone. Join some clubs, go to areas where students usually hang out, talk to people in your classes and form study groups. - Get a planner. Every day, write down what you need to get done today. This is a very effective way to balance your lifestyle. - Go to class. Sometimes the temptation comes, but it is best to attend class everyday because professors may tell you important information you need to know on exams.
Favorite class
My favorite class so far during my time at university has been Nursing Seminar. The reason being is that it brought all of us nursing students in a group where we support each other in our studies and we did a lot of discussion about different nursing practices which sparked my interest by a lot.
Career goals
I hope to receive my BSN and become an ICU nurse at a hospital in New York City. After a few years of working as an RN, I hope to get into graduate school to get my masters and become an NP (Nurse Practitioner).
Ideal way to spend a free night
An ideal way to spend a free night would be to catch up on any assignments in order to turn them in on time. After I do that, I love to go out to dinner with my friends and family at seafood restaurants.

Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus is the Student Center because it is a place where they have everything. Such as dining hall, the bookstores whenever you are running out of supplies and especially the Pride Den downstairs where you can socialize with peers and have a place to catch up on your homework.
