Hi! I’m Yahaira. I completed my undergraduate degree at Hofstra and am now continuing here as a graduate student, so I have experienced Hofstra from both perspectives. Over the years, I’ve become actively involved in student engagement, community service, campus events, and Student Access Services. Describe your college experience

It was a rollercoaster. Everyone's experience is different, as every major is different, but sometimes you end up switching majors when you least expect it.

Tip for future students

Don't let the first couple of weeks stress you out. Put yourself out there, try hard, keep it going, and make friends with anyone on campus because you never know what connections you can make. Join clubs, go to events, and just have fun because 4 years go by flying.

All of my classes beside of the biology classes because I have learned so much since I went to Hofstra from undergrad to graduate school

Career goals

I wanna be able to work for a juvenile detention center and make a difference for adolescents and be that change to keep them going and show them that there are people who still care for them.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Dorm nights with friends, going out to frat parties, going to club events, or even just driving around Long Island and trying to get lost.

Bits and bites, the library, student center. Honestly, the campus is beautiful; there are so many places to sit and study or even eat as well.
