Outgoing Exercise Physiology major who can show you all you need to know!

Hi, I’m Hazel! I am a first-year student at Hofstra University, originally from Brooklyn, New York. I would describe myself as friendly, outgoing, dependable, and always willing to help others. Since starting college, I have enjoyed meeting people from different backgrounds, getting involved on campus, and exploring everything Hofstra has to offer. I am currently involved in the Exercise is Medicine Club and the Emergency Medicine Club. One accomplishment I am especially proud of is becoming a three-time world champion martial artist. Although martial arts has been an important part of my life, I also enjoy watching movies, spending time with friends, staying active, and relaxing in the hammocks outside my dorm. I love meeting new people and making them feel comfortable and included. I would enjoy sharing my experiences, answering questions, and helping visitors learn more about Hofstra from a student’s perspective.

Describe your college experience

My transition to college has been both exciting and challenging. I have been learning how to balance my classes, assignments, and personal responsibilities while becoming more independent. So far, I have enjoyed meeting new people, exploring different opportunities on campus, and adjusting to a new academic environment. This experience has already helped me become more organized, confident, and responsible.

Tip for future students

Its okay to still be figuring things out, my advice to future students is to get involved, ask for help when needed, and give yourself time to adjust. It is okay not to have everything figured out right away.

Favorite class

First Aid and Safety is my favorite class because I am learning practical skills that I can use in real-life emergencies. I enjoy learning how to help others, prevent injuries, and respond calmly when someone needs assistance. The class also makes me feel more confident and prepared to handle unexpected situations.

Career goals

After college, I hope to become an athletic trainer who specializes in working with stunt performers. I would also like to work as an on-set medic in my free time, helping performers stay safe and providing care when injuries occur.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is relaxing and watching a Marvel movie or an action movie with crazy stunts.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite place on campus is the hammocks outside my dorm because they give me a peaceful place to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and take a break between classes.
