Describe your college experience

My transition to college was amazing, I quickly made friends and found my place in school. I got very involved on campus and was able to find joy in everything I do on campus. I genuinely love being a student here so far. I try and do what I can when I can. I’ve lived on campus for two years now and have had no issues living on campus.

Tip for future students

Join clubs and organizations! It is the best way to get involved on campus and make friends. I wish i knew how important it is to be involved on campus and how much better it feels to be involved the know about events going on.

Favorite class

My favorite class so far has definitely been interactive drum circle! We got to learn about all different types of drums around the world and explored different rhythms and music styles. It was an extremely fun class that I regularly looked forward to.

Career goals

I hope to be a choir director for a couple years at a high school. Eventually I want to go back to school for my doctorate. I want to be a choir director at a collegiate level!

Ideal way to spend a free night

A free night is spent with friends for me! I love going out or cooking with friends. If I am extremely busy through a free night is spent studying or doing homework. Ideal, however, would be me going line dancing at Rick’s Cafe with my friends or at a football game!

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite spot on campus is definitely the music building! I love all the access to the practice rooms we have and all the pianos we can practice with. Most of my classes are in this building so it’s where I spend most of my time. It’s extremely peaceful to be able to rehearse by myself or with others, there’s always another music major there! I also love the library. We have a presidential library and it is incredibly cool to check out and tour. There are many small, calming study rooms that I go into when I have an exam coming up.
