Health science major that knows the ins and out of campus life
Hello! I'm Marley, a pre-med Health Science major. I love exploring, climbing trees, doing a variety of fiber arts, and doing all I can to learn how to make our health care system better for everyone. My sense of curiosity has brought me to a variety of places on campus- whether that's inside the bleachers at our stadium, the basement of the former advisory building, the stairwells of our library, or simply out in one of the many athletic fields on campus. I work part time at Hofstra's overnight diner, and have lived in all styles of housing that the university offers (both suite and high-rise) and can tell you anything you want to know. I'm excited to show you what Hofstra has to offer!

Clubs, organizations & involvement
Most of my involvement has been in DREAM, which is an advocacy club for students with disabilities, and MEDS, which is a medical ethics discussion group. I don't have the chance to go to these clubs very often due to working part time and also having a 17 credit schedule.

Describe your college experience
College has been good so far! It's easy to find your niche here, and there's a lot of different majors and classes to choose from so that you can study something that truly fits your goals. The classes are relatively small, save for some of the core science classes, and the campus is easily walkable. It seems like there's always some sort of event going on- if you're bored, you can always find something to do. There's so many clubs here that it boggles the mind.
Tip for future students
Do your assignments first before you have fun! Cramming isn't great, and it won't help you retain the information. Also, if you're confused, go to office hours. Don't study for hours on end, break it up into little chunks! Wait to get settled into your classes and see what the workload is every semester before you go out and party- you don't want your fun night out to affect your grades.
Favorite class
McCarthyism And The Perils Of Political Repression, due to the small size, intense class discussions, and the constant connections to the real world. Also, we got to see Hadestown.
Career goals
I hope to apply and be accepted into medical school. My main interests are in the fields of emergency medicine and pediatrics.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night is hanging out with my close friends and laughing over shared media interests.
High school or secondary school
McLean High School
Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot on campus is the hammer lab, because even though it's very easily accessible, it's often almost empty. Studying there is wonderful due to how quiet it is, access to computers, printers, bathrooms, pencil sharpeners, staplers, and water fountains.
Meeting point
Dunkin' on the Hofstra University campus
