Hey Y'all!! My name is Molly May, a sophomore on the pre-med track in the CAES program studying Biological Science (very proud to be apart of the agriculture college). I am from very south Georgia and love small towns and anything southern. You’ll usually catch me playing sports, hanging out with my friends, exploring campus, or finding a new spot to grab food. I love a good football game, being outside, and making the most of college. I’m always looking for something fun to do or a new place to check out! I genuinely love this campus and everything that makes UGA feel like home. Describe your college experience

My transition to college has been a really rewarding experience. I loved college from the beginning, but during my first semester of freshman year, I was definitely more lonely because I had not yet found my people or my community. Now, I have made so many friends, joined clubs, and really feel like I belong, which makes this year even sweeter. I especially enjoy getting to experience things like football games with people I have become close with. One thing that surprised me about transitioning to college was how much I missed home. I said I would never be the person to call home after leaving, but I ended up calling my dad at least once a week because it was comforting to talk to someone who already knew me rather than someone I had just met. Looking back, I think that transition helped me appreciate both the community I have built at college and the people I have always had at home.

Tip for future students

Something I wish I knew before college was it will take time to feel established, like this is home, and you've found your community. I had ot keep reminding myself the reason I had such a great community and surplus of "good" friends back home was because I had been growing those relationships for 14 years while I had only just gotten to college and needed to give myself grace and simply time.

Favorite class

My ag freshman orientation class. This class helped me in so many ways to set me up with success! I got to build documents required for post grad jobs, while also building connections with people whom are in my major and college. With the class bring in my college it also felt like home because I was with people who see the world like me and are from the same parts of Georgia as I am.

Career goals

My career goals after college is to attend Med school in Macon at Mercer Med and pursue a speciality in pediatrics and then move back down to South Georgia and live in a rural community while serving my community and their pediatric medical needs. While also having the dream of once owning a farm and being self sustainable.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend a free night is to have my friends over at my house. We would start with a physical activity like a game out in the yard , swimming, or playing games in the living room and getting to know each other better. Then sharing a meal together and just chatting it up!

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite place on campus would be Russell Hall (my freshman dorm). While I don't live there anymore and do not go there on the daily, that place holds so many memories that I hold dearly to my heart. That place is also a remembrance of the growing I did freshman year and how I went in one person and came out a totally different one (for the better)!!
