Describe your college experience

Although the first couple weeks take time to get acclimated to your new living environment, responsibilities, and freedoms, college has become a great learning experience and step up into my adult life. After the first few weeks set in, I developed a routine, met new friends, made time for schoolwork, but started new hobbies. Not only am I working toward a degree I care about, but my overall enjoyment in school has increased through college, due to the freedom of choice in classes. Less requirements allow for lectures and classes I actually care about, and the difference in schedules allow me to have more free time. I even started lifting weights with my free time, and have really enjoyed it over the last year or so. Overall, college has been super beneficial from an academic standpoint point, but also a social aspect as well.

Tip for future students

If I could do it all over, I’d tell myself to save up more money for school. The harsh reality is even after tuition and housing costs, the additional expenses still pile up. Even if you think you’re comfortable, it’s easier to do more things the more money you have, and jobs are available everywhere if need be. Unfortunately, in order to maximize your college experience, money is crucial, therefore, the more you can save, the more opportunities you give yourself.

Favorite class

IAH 207 is a philosophy class about AI. Although I likely would not have elected this class myself, the school requirement allowed me to explore my interests like AI, and its impacts on the world. We held many class discussions, we didn’t have a lot of outside class work, and I felt intellectually challenged, rather than suffering through the class. All these reasons made IAH 207 my favorite class.

Career goals

After graduation, I hope to have a job lined up with a corporation in the finance department. I intend on working myself up with promotions and live in the suburbs near my home town. I plan, one day, to have a family, house, and comfortable life, following my completion of college.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Generally on my free nights, I prefer to hang out with my friends and go out and do things. I have many hobbies, and many interests so what may happen changes, but I really enjoy doing things with my close friends.

Favorite spot on campus

The Eli Broad Art Museum is my favorite place on campus. Although it’s a rather small building and I’ve never been inside, I love the architecture of the building. Something about seeing the museum feels like home, and I love driving past it every time I visit East Lansing.
