Hi! I’m Veda, a Data Science student at MSU. I’m a pretty social and outgoing person, so you’ll usually find me hanging out with friends, trying a new restaurant, cooking together, or finding something fun to do around campus. I also studied abroad in Sydney, which made me love meeting new people and trying new things even more. I’ve really enjoyed my time at MSU, and I’d love to share both the academic and social side of being a student here!

Describe your college experience

My transition to college at Michigan State University was both exciting and challenging, as it pushed me to become more independent and step outside of my comfort zone. Academically, studying Data Science has allowed me to explore my interests in technology, analytics, and problem-solving while gaining experience through internships and working as an Undergraduate Learning Assistant. Socially, MSU has given me the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds, build meaningful friendships, and become involved in the campus community. Overall, my experience at MSU has helped me grow academically, professionally, and personally while becoming more confident and independent.

Tip for future students

My biggest tip for future students would be to put yourself out there and be open to new experiences. Try to say “yes” to plans, meet new people, and take advantage of opportunities, even if they’re outside your comfort zone. At the same time, stay on top of your schoolwork and responsibilities. College is all about finding a balance between enjoying the experience and setting yourself up for success.

Favorite class

My favorite class has been Data Structures and Algorithms because it changed the way I approach problem-solving. I enjoyed learning how different data structures and algorithms can make code more efficient and scalable, rather than simply focusing on whether a program works. It challenged me to think more logically and strengthened the problem-solving skills that I now apply to data science and programming projects.

Career goals

After college, I hope to find a full-time job in data science or a related field where I can apply the technical and analytical skills I’ve developed at MSU. I’m excited to continue learning, gain real-world experience, and build a career that allows me to work with data and technology to solve meaningful problems.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My favorite way to spend a free night is cooking a meal with friends, watching a movie together, and simply enjoying each other’s company. I love having a relaxed night where we can catch up, laugh, and spend quality time together.
