Ambivert biology major who loves sports, helping other, and God!

Hi everyone! My name is Adejare Williams, and I’m a second-year Biology major at UC Santa Barbara. I’m originally from Granite Bay, California, and I love being active and exploring everything Santa Barbara has to offer. Outside of classes, you can usually find me playing or watching sports (especially basketball and baseball) or spending time at the gym. I also enjoy going on sunset beach hikes and taking in the beautiful views around campus. One thing that’s important to me is giving back to the community, which I do through UCIV. When I’m studying, you’ll probably find me outside enjoying the sunshine at the Arbor rather than sitting in the library. I’m excited to show you around UCSB, share some of my favorite spots, and help you get a feel for what makes this campus such a special place!

Describe your college experience

My transition to college was pretty smooth, but I would say it was different being on my own and managing my own schedule.

Tip for future students

- A great place to study is in the Arbor because the library is typically overpacked. - Set clear boundaries for roommates or they will run all over you. - The first couple of weeks are so important to connect with others so go to club meetings, sporting events, or even the welcome to UCSB events. - Go to office hours! Teacher typically tells what could be on the test. - The groups you hang around will likely change and that's ok!

Favorite class

African American Linguistics because it gave me a different outlook on the beauty of African American culture as an African American.

Career goals

Go to medical school with hopes of becoming a physician!

Ideal way to spend a free night

I like to spend my nights by myself and wind down getting ready for the next day. That could be by reading, watching a movie or show, or praying.

High school or secondary school

Granite Bay High School

Favorite spot on campus

There was a bench outside of Anacapa that overlooked the ocean, and that was my favorite spot because it helped to captivate the beauty in the opportunity I had to be on UCSB's campus.

Meeting point

Base of Storke Tower on the University of California, Santa Barbara campus
