Describe your college experience
Transitioning to college is a big step from high school. However, this transition is mainly dependent on the person. I did not work my first semester of college which gave me some space to join clubs and find my way. However, I did have a job my second semester as a Resident Assistant. Even with being employed, I was still able to balance my academics and clubs. This was mainly due to keeping a strict planner and working hard. My experience so far has been getting involved, meeting new people, and making memories. UCF has so much to offer and it is only growing. I have not exhausted the opportunities, resources, or events UCF has to offer. I look forward to the many opportunities and experiences to come in my time at UCF.
Tip for future students
Going to a university is a serious commitment. You are learning the skills you will take with you to your future career. Take advantage of this time. Get involved. Have a plan. If you can plan and budget your time as if it were money, you will make sure you have time to do well in classes, join clubs, work, and do random things. You will fail. If you don't, you are not trying hard enough. You need to fail. And learn from that failure. It may hurt in the moment, but there is reward for those who learn from their mistakes rather than treat them as punishments.
Favorite class
I really enjoyed Constitutional Law 1 with Professor Hanley. The course focused in on the powers of the Article 1 under the commerce clause and showed how it developed over the course of the US changing political landscape.
Career goals
I hope to become a Instructor at the Navy Nuclear Power School. Applying both my insights on math and political science topics to eventually lead in either a public servant role or a industry project manager.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Walking around campus with friends. There is always something to do. Usually free events are going on around campus as well. You can play pickle ball and meet new people that way.
High school or secondary school
East Ridge High School
Favorite spot on campus
RWC - They have a massive gym, rock climbing tower, swimming pool with lanes, basketball courts, locker rooms, racquet ball courts, and so much more to do with the RWC events.
Meeting point
UCF Reflecting Pond on the University of Central Florida campus
