Hi, I'm Hannah! I am currently a fourth year Psychology and Brian Sciences and Sociology double major at UCSB. My first year I stayed in the campus dorms but currently I live in the college town of Isla Vista. In my free time I like to read, hang out with friends, and explore the city of Santa Barbara. Describe your college experience

The first year was a big adjustment period, getting used to the new location, quarter system, workload, etc. It took some time but by the second year I was able to find my footing and really enjoy my college experience. There are numerous opportunities, and there is something for everyone at UCSB.

Tip for future students

I think it is important to remember adjusting to the work load and finding your people can take time. It's completely normal to feel out of place when you first get here. I recommend staying open minded to new experiences and being confident in your ability to succeed. I also recommend checking out all of the things your campus has to offer. Sporting events, clubs, extra curricular, tutoring, etc are all tools and experience that will make your college experience more enjoyable.

Favorite class

If I had to pick a favorite class I would either say Social Movements (SOC 134) or Self and Identity (PSY 148). Both of these classes had amazing professors that keep the classes engaging, even with the amount of students in attendance. The social movements course felt more like a discusses rather than a lecture, which I enjoyed. For the psychology course, I found my professors takes on many theories involving memory and the self very interesting. It was nice to hear and learn from someone so experienced in the field.

Favorite spot on campus

My favorite place on campus is Campus Point. It is a quiet, beautiful place on campus where you can see the lagoon and the ocean. Since its in a more secluded area of campus its a great place to go in between classes to relax or study.
