Pre-med biopsychology student.

My name is Grace Casillas and I’m a 3rd year/junior at UCSB. I’m super big on work hard play hard and I love to make time to have fun with friends, go to the beach, go to the gym, enjoy the campus and the santa barbara area while staying on top of school and priorities.

Describe your college experience

College to me was super scary, I’ve never been anywhere else but LA and moving from an 8 person household to completely on my own with a roommate i didn’t know was terrifying. I later came to know that UCSB was the best decision I could have made. I’ve grown so much as a person and have come to know what it’s like to be an adult, which isn’t all that easy! I’ve enjoyed my time here at santa barbara and there’s still so much to explore! I’ve met my best friends here and have made some of my best memories, wether it’s a sunset dip in the ocean or experiencing the social and party life, i’ve had so much fun and want to continue to learn and grow.

Tip for future students

Number 1 tip is to be yourself and not to worry about what other people think, half the time they’re too worried about themselves or what they’re doing to think anything bad about you. Second tip is the balance between responsibilities gets SUPER tough, scheduling and organization is super helpful to stay on top of school work

Favorite class

My favorite class so far has been EEMB 3 which we learned about plants in one section. I was so interested and the professor was great. I gained a new perspective and appreciation for the millions of plants around us.

Career goals

I hope to go to medical school and pursue a career in that field

Ideal way to spend a free night

Best way to spend a free night is relaxing on the couch with friends hanging out watching movies and also being spontaneous going to eat or even just out walking to iv or the beach.

High school or secondary school

Bishop Amat Memorial High School

Favorite spot on campus

Campus point duh! The beach is right there on campus and it’s so pretty to look at and just sit on the benches and take it all in, maybe read a book

Meeting point

Base of Storke Tower on the University of California, Santa Barbara campus
