2nd year student at UVA McIntire School of Commerce
I’m from Massachusetts and have had a great experience as an out-of-state student. Outside of academics, I love to do anything outdoors - whether that’s hiking, swimming, paddle boarding, playing sports with friends, or just relaxing in nature! I also love music/instruments and have been playing piano for 16 years and just started learning guitar. There’s so many ways to get involved at UVA and explore new interests, and I’d love to talk to prospective students about this incredible school!

Describe your college experience
I’ve had the best time at college so far! UVA is the perfect mix of academics and fun, and there’s always cool things to do, whether that’s trying new places on the Corner, exploring the downtown mall, going on hikes around Charlottesville, or going to Carter Mountain Orchard on Thursday evenings for live music and beautiful views. UVA is truly the ultimate college experience!
Tip for future students
Take the classes that genuinely interest you! It’s so much easier to get through an early lecture when you love the subject or professor. Also, get involved!!! Especially at a bigger school like UVA, there are so many amazing people that could end up being your closest friends, and joining organizations/activities that interest you is one of the best places to meet them.
Favorite class
My favorite class has been an international relations class on Foreign Policy of the Great Powers, and it’s the reason I decided to pursue a foreign affairs minor. The professor was super engaging and it was interesting to apply the framework to current events and global conflicts.
Career goals
After college, I hope to work in a career in finance (maybe investment banking or wealth management) and live in New York or DC.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal free night would be to get dinner with my friends at Asado, walk around the Lawn on the way back, head back to the dorms and play music and games at the tables outside.
High school or secondary school
Weston High School
Favorite spot on campus
My favorite spot is the gardens outside the Lawn (especially in the spring) because it’s the perfect secluded place to study, read, or relax with friends.
Meeting point
Statue of Homer on the University of Virginia campus
